We run a free online loan-request and matching service for people in the United States who need between $500 and $5,000. You fill out one short form. We pass your request to lenders and lending partners in our network. If a lender can help, it shows you an offer, and you decide whether to accept it.
We are not a lender. We do not make loans, review credit applications, set rates or fund anything. Every credit decision belongs to the lender you choose, and so does every term in your loan agreement.
Who we are
The website at aheadlendings.com is operated by a small team based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Our background is in consumer finance, customer support and web development, and our focus is narrow on purpose: small personal loans for everyday costs.
Most of the people who use our form are dealing with something specific and time-sensitive. A car that won't start. A vet estimate that has to be paid at pickup. A deposit on a new apartment. A stack of medical bills after an insurance deductible. We built the service around those moments, which is why the form is short and the site explains costs in plain numbers rather than marketing language.
About 73,000 borrowers have used the request form so far, and those who rated the experience give it an average of 4.6 out of 5 stars across 2,190 ratings. You can read a representative selection on our borrower reviews page, including the critical ones.
What the service does
Our job is to make shopping for a small loan faster and less repetitive. Instead of filling out the same application on five different lender websites, you answer one set of questions, and lenders that may be a fit can respond.
- One form. About five minutes of questions covering the amount you need, why you need it, your income, your housing and how to reach you.
- Matching. Your request is shared with lenders and lending partners in our network that serve your state and lend in your range.
- Offers from lenders. Lenders that can help show you their own offers, often using a soft credit inquiry that does not affect your credit score.
- Your choice. You compare APR, term, fees and monthly payment, then apply directly with the lender you prefer, or walk away. There is no obligation.
The site also publishes educational guides on rates, eligibility, budgeting and specific needs such as moving, medical bills and pet care, so you can understand what an offer means before you sign anything. The full process is described step by step on how it works.
Our mission
We want people to borrow small amounts with their eyes open. That means seeing the real cost of a loan before agreeing to it, comparing more than one option when possible, and never feeling pushed into a decision.
In practice, our mission shows up in small choices. We show payment estimates using exact figures, such as a representative example of $2,000 borrowed over 12 months at 24% APR, which works out to 12 monthly payments of about $189.12 and roughly $269.43 in total interest. We explain the difference between a soft and a hard credit inquiry. We tell people when a smaller amount or a shorter term would save them money. And we tell people when a loan might not be the right answer at all.
How we make money
The service is free for borrowers. We are paid by lenders and lending partners in our network, usually when a request is passed to them or when a borrower they receive from us takes out a loan.
That compensation keeps the form free, and it is also the reason we are open about it. Payments from partners can influence which offers you see and the order they appear in. They never change the rate, fees or terms a lender sets for you; those come from the lender's own underwriting. Our advertiser disclosure explains the arrangement in more detail.
You will never be charged a fee by us to submit a request, compare offers or decline an offer. If anyone claiming to represent us asks you for an upfront payment, it is not us.
Our editorial team
Our guides are written and reviewed by a small in-house team of writers and editors with experience in personal finance, consumer lending and budgeting. Their job is to explain costs and trade-offs accurately, not to sell a particular product.
- Articles are checked against current federal consumer-lending rules and common lender practices before they are published.
- Payment figures are calculated with standard amortization formulas and labeled as estimates.
- Writers do not receive bonuses tied to loan volume or to any specific partner.
- Guides are reviewed on a regular schedule and updated when lender practices or rules change.
If you spot an error in any article, please tell us through the contact page. Corrections are made promptly.
What we are not
Clarity about our role matters as much as what we do. Here is what the service is not:
- Not a lender. We do not make loans, issue credit decisions or fund accounts.
- Not a broker who negotiates for you. We do not bargain with lenders on your behalf or act as your financial adviser.
- Not a credit repair or debt settlement company. We do not contact creditors for you or promise to change your credit score.
- Not affiliated with similarly named lenders. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or part of any lender or financial company that uses a name similar to ours.
- Not a promise of approval. Submitting a request does not mean any lender will make you an offer, and not all lenders or loan products available in the market are in our network.
Availability, amounts and terms vary by state and by lender. If you have a question about a specific loan you already have, the lender named on your agreement is the right place to start.
